Melon Confession Arc

A second year high school student's heart opens again through one of six girls.

In the anime series Amagami SS, the story follows Junichi Tachibana, a second year high school student from Kibotou High who dislikes celebrating Christmas due to a past incident two years ago when his girlfriend stood him up on Christmas Eve. The anime is divided into several story arcs where each arc focuses on one of six main heroines who will become Junichi's love interest: Haruka Morishima, Kaoru Tanamachi, Sae Nakata, Ai Nanasaki, Rihoko Sakurai, and Tsukasa Ayatsuji. Two extra episodes feature Risa Kamizaki and Miya Tachibana as the heroines.

Lore & Background

The anime adaptation is based on the PS2 Dating sim Amagami. It is produced by AIC and directed by Yoshimasa Hiraike, with series composition by Hiraike, scripted by Noboru Kimura and Touko Machida, music by Toshiyuki Omori, character design by Hiroaki Gohda, and art and sound direction by Maho Takahashi and Satoki Iida respectively. The anime is licensed and released in North America by Sentai Filmworks. A second season, titled Amagami SS+ plus, aired from January 5 to March 29, 2012.

In Their Own Story

Junichi Tachibana is a second year high school student at Kibotou High. Two years ago, his girlfriend stood him up on Christmas Eve, leaving him heartbroken and causing him to dislike celebrating Christmas. However, this Christmas will be different as his encounter with one of six girls—Haruka Morishima, Kaoru Tanamachi, Sae Nakata, Ai Nanasaki, Rihoko Sakurai, or Tsukasa Ayatsuji—will finally open up his heart to love again. The anime is divided into several story arcs, each focusing on one of these main heroines who becomes Junichi's love interest.

The anime uses multiple theme songs. The first opening theme, 'i Love' by azusa, ran from episode 1 to 12. The second opening theme, 'Kimi no Mama de' by azusa, ran from episode 13 to 26. The ending theme songs vary from arc to arc. The first ending theme for episodes 1 to 4 is 'Kimi no Hitomi ni Koishiteru' by Shizuka Itō. The second ending for episodes 5 to 8 is 'Kitto Ashita wa...' by Rina Satō. The third ending for episodes 9 to 12 is 'Anata Shika Mienai' by Hiromi Konno. In Amagami SS+ plus, the opening theme song was 'Check My Soul' by azusa while the ending theme song was 'Kokuhaku' by azusa.
